About Us

CR Marshall & Associates is a Guyana-based quantity surveying and construction cost consultancy
with over five decades of professional service to the nation’s built environment.

The firm was founded in 1981 by C.R. Marshall following his professional training in the United Kingdom, where he was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (FRICS). For many years, Mr. Marshall was the sole quantity surveyor in Guyana holding this distinction, positioning the firm at the forefront of consequential construction and infrastructure projects during a formative period of national development.

Today, CR Marshall & Associates continues this legacy, providing independent, disciplined, and technically rigorous cost consultancy services across private, public infrastructure, institutional, residential, and commercial developments.

Clairmont Randolph Marshall (C.R. Marshall) FRICS was a distinguished quantity surveyor whose career was defined by excellence, resilience, and a commitment to his profession. After pursuing studies in chemistry and physics in London, he transitioned into the field of surveying, recognizing the significant opportunities it presented. He trained at Hammersmith College of Art and Building, Wilsden College of Technology, and Thames University, securing a grant to support his education.

His expertise quickly earned him placements with prestigious firms in London, where he contributed to major projects, including Saint Bartholomew’s Hospital in 1972 and the Saudi Arabian Embassy.

With a growing reputation in the industry, Clairmont returned to Guyana to work with the Guyana Buildings Consortium from 1975 to 1978. His leadership and technical skills positioned him as a key figure in the sector, managing complex projects and driving industry standards.

In 1983, he took a bold step in his career by founding C.R. Marshall Associates, a firm that became synonymous with professionalism and excellence in quantity surveying.

Clairmont’s impact on the profession extended beyond his firm, as he became a Fellow of the prestigious Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, a recognition of his expertise and contributions to the field. His career was marked by a dedication to precision, integrity, and mentorship, influencing the next generation of professionals in the industry. His legacy continues to shape the standards of quantity surveying both in Guyana and internationally.

Zwade Marshall, MD, MBA

Zwade Marshall, MD, MBA

Zwade Marshall, MD, MBA (Chairman of the Board) is a Harvard and Emory-trained, double-board certified anesthesiologist and interventional pain management specialist. He is the Founder and Chief Medical Officer of Regenerative Spine and Pain Specialists and former Director of Clinical Outcomes at Alliance Spine & Pain.

Dr. Marshall is a highly regarded clinical expert on opioid prosecutions and has published several clinical studies on topics related to pain management. He has developed expertise on the cannabinoid receptors in the pain treatment pathways as an alternative to opioid therapies and has built a clinical practice around utilization of low-THC CBD products to treat chronic pain conditions ranging from fibromyalgia to neuromuscular and nervous system disorders.

He also utilizes several innovative interventional treatment modalities that include spinal cord stimulation, kyphoplasty, venous ablations and sacroiliac joint fusions.

Dr. Marshall attended Emory University, where he completed a bachelor’s degree in economics and simultaneously completed his pre-medicine coursework. At Emory, he received several leadership and academic accolades, including the Dorothy Aldridge Excellence Award.

He began his career path to pursue a joint degree in medicine and business (MD/MBA) at Emory University, pursuing dual concentrations in organizational management and operations. His research interests are in process and systems efficiency models to improve surgery center performance in health care settings.

Dr. Marshall is currently serving his second term on the Emory School of Medicine Alumni Board. He also serves on the Board of the non-profit Dukes Foundation and HERO medical mission to Guyana where he provides pain therapies for pediatric club feet repair surgeries.

Dr. Marshall and his wife (attorney Roshal Marshall) are avid bundlers and fundraisers for the Hamilton Holmes Scholarship at Emory School of Medicine.

Mr. Rawle Nicholas Arno, BSc, MBA, MRICS, is a British-trained Chartered Quantity Surveyor and senior cost management professional with more than three decades of international experience across public infrastructure, higher education, healthcare, housing, and large-scale capital programs.

He holds an MBA from Henley Management College (in collaboration with Brunel University, UK), specializing in Finance and Marketing, and a BSc in Quantity Surveying from South Bank University, London.

Mr. Arno is a professionally certified Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS) and a member of the American Association of Cost Engineers International.

His professional practice spans North America, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East, with senior appointments involving contract administration, cost engineering, program management, and dispute resolution on complex, high-value projects.

Throughout his career, Mr. Arno has held senior leadership and advisory roles with international consulting firms, government ministries, and private enterprises, including major assignments with Kuwait University, the Ministry of Public Works in Kuwait, and the Government of Botswana, where he served as Program Manager for a nationwide $100M buildings and infrastructure program.

He has provided cost and contract oversight on projects exceeding $500M in value, consistently applying RICS ethical and technical standards aligned with International Cost Management Standards (ICMS).

In addition to his technical leadership, Mr. Arno brings entrepreneurial experience as a founder and executive in technology and biomedical ventures, and a longstanding record of community service and board governance.

He currently serves as Lead Quantity Surveyor (RICS) for CR Marshall & Associates, providing technical leadership, cost assurance, and professional oversight.

Kenita Y. Abrams started her career immediately following successful completion of her CXCs. Young, future focused, ambitious and committed to integrity, she has grown and progressed professionally since her first appointment with the Ministry of Public Works – Sea Defence / Hydraulics Division as a Stores Clerk in the year 2002.

Ms. Abrams was sponsored by the Ministry of Public Works to study ‘Foundation Certificate in Accountancy’ at the Government Technical Institute in the years 2005–2006. In 2010–2011 she went on to the Critchlow Labour College and studied ‘Industrial Relations & Social Studies’.

At the Ministry of Public Works, Kenita was promoted to Accounts Clerk after successfully completing the ‘Foundation Certificate in Accountancy’ and ‘Industrial Relations & Social Studies’ courses.

In the year 2012 she was further promoted to the position of Contracts Assistant in the Procurement Department of the Ministry of Public Works.

In 2013–2014 she took on the course ‘Advanced Diploma in Project Management’ from the Institute of Commercial Management (UK) in collaboration with Nations University (Guyana).

Kenita was selected and sponsored by the Ministry of Public Works to travel to Canada to participate in a workshop called ‘A Course in Monitoring & Evaluation of Projects’, in which a certificate was awarded to her after successful completion.

Kenita also participated in workshops on Communication in the Workplace (Zoywin’s Consultancy Training Institute) in 2013, sponsored by the Ministry of Public Works.

In early 2015, Kenita left the Ministry of Public Works and was employed with Tagman Media Inc. as an Administrative Officer for the 4th Road Project – West Coast Demerara Improvement & Widening (Public Relations Aspect) from 2015–2016.

In 2017 she went on to work briefly with KP Thomas & Sons as a Tender Clerk.

From 2019–2021, Kenita was employed with the Protected Areas Commission as a Procurement Assistant.

Kenita’s vast employment experience has equipped her with skills such as mastery of Microsoft Excel and Word, preparation of works programmes, filing and organizing electronic records, preparation of contracts and contract letters, procurement, and basic accounting.

Kenita is presently employed with CR Marshall Associates since 2023 as the Project Assistant / Secretary, which she enjoys and where she feels truly at home.
